The "final" version of the reference design as delivered to the CEC on April 30 has been posted.  It is also referred to as rev 15.  There will be additional updates as the CEC moves the Title 24 regulatory process along.

Jeremy Mcdonald from SCE supplied some references on the techniques he was talking about for combining material from several sources into a usable key.  The area of research is called Secret Sharing.  Check out the links to the right.

It seems that moving files once they have been uploaded is a major pain in this system. What is the recommended procedure for such a thing?

I think standardizing the signal names, nomenclatures and colors for signals is a good idea provided that the application variations are taken into account such as in heat pump system Y signal in combination with O or B is used for both heating and cooling. The idea behind standardizing HVAC outputs on one connector (DB-25), as I understand it, is to make replacing one PCT with another one easier for...

It looks like the CEC will accept a compromise in the short term.  That compromise involves defining a mandatory 5 terminal block with standard signals, another optional block for advanced systems, and a digital interface yet to be defined.  Please review the new reference design document and comment.  --Erich
